O Castelo de Alvor foi uma obra do século VII, época do início do povoado muçulmano da Península Ibérica.
Muito marcado por guerras entre mouros e cristãos que destruíram e deixaram em ruínas o Castelo de Alvor, foi reconstruído em 1300 por ordem de D. Dinis.
